Perfect Gift Idea – Dwarf 360 Omni Directional Speaker

Dwarf 360 Omni directional speaker

Dwarf 360 Omni directional speaker

The main disadvantage of your everyday speaker is that they are virtually sending sound in one direction only. Turn the speaker slightly away from you or step to the side of it, or simply put them out of center and it can sound like it’s on the other side of a wall and the stereo balance is off.
360 degrees of sound is just one cool feature of the USA Navy designed Dwarf 360° Omni-Directional USB Powered Vibrating Speakers. That’s right. You’d think the Navy would be working on torpedoes and periscopes. Instead they’ve been tweaking speakers to create the ultimate submarine dance-parties.

The Dwarf is small and can fit anywhere, from your desk, to a table, to the fireplace mantle. But to utilize the 360 degrees of sound you’ll want to put this right in the center of your place. The speakers can hook to an iPod, iPhone, PC, laptop, DVD player, CD, or MP3 players so you’re covered wherever you do end up putting it. And here’s the vibrating part: whatever the dwarf sits on, it will vibrate and use to amplify sound. Try it on a wood table, a glass table, the floor, your cat! Each will produce a different quality sound.

The dwarf includes a USB cable and a mini-USB port. Perhaps best of all, they only cost around $25. Perfect holiday gift? We think so. Check them out here.

19 Pound Indonesian Baby

Wow, you better believe it. An Indonesian woman has given birth to a 19.2 pounds (8.7-kilogram) baby boy, the heaviest newborn baby ever recorded in history, a doctor reported on Wednesday.

The still unnamed baby  is 24.4 inches (62 centimeter) long, was born using a caesarean section on Monday at a public hospital in the North Sumatra province, a gynaecologist who took part in the operation told AFP.

“This heavy baby made the surgery really tough, especially the process of taking him out of his mum’s womb. His legs were so big,” doctor Binsar Sitanggang said.  “He’s got strong appetite, every minute, it’s almost non-stop feeding. This baby boy is extraordinary, the way he’s crying is not like a usual baby. It’s really loud.” he said.

Office Affairs – Risk And Reward

Posted by: Angel on August 16, 2009 | Category: Interesting Stuff, Romance | Comments (0)

Fooling around with your male coworker is like having an affair your neighbor; so very convenient, yet still looming with danger (potentially awkward run-ins, forced togetherness). Luckily, the benefits of this excellently illicit activity far outweigh the pitfalls, especially it provides a welcomed release from the over-caffeinated late-night brainstorming sessions. Just follow these rules of play and you’ll come out the satisfied women in your high-stakes game of office nookies.

Office Sex - Do You Dare?

Office Sex - Do You Dare?

Intra-office propositioning takes some planning, but once you’ve found an equally interested counterpart, your course of action should be swift and direct. It’s vital to choose safe heaven surroundings, like the office-party time or even the hidden copy room. If you prefer a less direct method of communication, then a well-timed text message can help you arrange a post-meeting rendezvous.

Be aware of jealous competitors, your office is full of people ready to take you down at the slightest hint of vulnerability. Don’t assume that any of your officemates are completely trustworthy; as a rule, and especially if your office has a no-fraternization policy, it’s better to keep your endeavour to yourself.

Before you engage in hot and steamy copy room sex, a tip, though: figure out if your office is under video surveillance, and if it is, some whipped cream will dismantle said surveillance system so your indiscretions don’t follow you to the Board room couple of years down the road.

Displays of affection in the office will ruin your office rep faster than admitting you’ve been running a money laundering operation out of your cubicle. People will quickly catch on to your stolen goods and in fact, it’s probably better to avoid your partner in crime as much as possible while in the office, and never, ever show up together in the morning holding hands and sharing a bagel.

VJ Day – August 14th

Posted by: Angel on August 14, 2009 | Category: Interesting Stuff | Comments (0)

Happy VJ Day!

August 14th is VJ Day or Victory over Japan day. Japanese Emperor Hirohito unconditionally surrendered to the Allies to end World War II. The formal signing of the surrender would not occur until September 2, 1945.

After four years of blackout on Time Square, the lights went on as Mayor LaGuardia announced surrender of the Japanese. In a celebration around the world  on August 14, 1945, the New Yorkers celebrated at the Square to start a new era of peace, and hope.

Alfred Eisenstaedt’s picture of an unknown couple kissing reflects the happyness and enjoyment at the moment.
